About
Accessibility
A guide that cannot be read is not a guide. Everything below is built into the site already — the controls sit in the bar above the navigation on every page.
Language
Lessons can be read in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese or Russian. Choose a language in the accessibility bar and the lesson you are reading is translated in place; your choice carries over to every other lesson.
Text size
The size control moves the lesson text between 14 and 20. This changes the text itself, not just the zoom, so lines still wrap properly and nothing runs off the side of the screen. Your browser's own zoom (Ctrl and + / Ctrl and -) still works on top of it.
Keyboard and screen readers
- Every link, button and control can be reached with the Tab key, and the item in focus is outlined clearly.
- Headings are used in order, so screen-reader users can jump between sections.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed; there is always a word or symbol as well.
- Decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers so they do not interrupt the text.
